O teste ERA foi desenvolvido a partir de mais de 10 anos de pesquisa científica sobre a expressão gênica do endométrio durante o ciclo menstrual. Indicado para pacientes com repetidas falhas de implantação em Fertilização in Vitro, este diagnóstico possibilitou que milhares de famílias pudessem realizar a sonho da gravidez quando, mesmo transferindo os melhores embriões e tendo bom prognóstico, não obtinham sucesso na gestação.
Apesar da indicação de repetidas falhas de implantação, individualizando o tratamento à realidade de cada paciente, existem situações onde o teste ERA vem sendo realizado a partir do primeiro ciclo de forma preventiva. Como por exemplo, quando era preciso reduzir o risco de perder embriões valiosos por conta de um fator uterino.
Por esta razão, publicações científicas que analisam o panorama geral de pacientes sem considerar a indicação do teste ERA podem questionar a eficácia de um teste altamente efetivo no diagnóstico da janela de implantação, que é o único momento em que o endométrio irá permitir a implantação do embrião no útero materno.
